Umbrella Bamboo. Culms are bright green during the first season, maturing to powder-blue-green the second year. Murielae is more upright than nitida, and powder blue stalks are visible through the soft, pendulous foliage. An outstanding bamboo when used near water or a specimen in container. In Europe it is used extensively for hedges. Flowered in 1995.
